This video is dedicated to Bowie’s mantra of my generation. Jurji Gagarin and Valentina Tereškova hover in the electronic skies between Sputniks and Titan missiles. The heroes of totalitarian realisms stand out against retrofuturist ideal cities, blocked in the rhetorical and ideal gesture, in the eternal beauty and youth looking forward, towards the sun of utopia (which unfortunately proved to be a great, tragic, dazzling), almost to suggest, even in disillusionment and irony, an ideal tension of some sort in an era of total cynicism and lack of future vision. The project also includes a 120-page book in progress containing all the images from which many of the parallax-animated frames are taken. Questo video è dedicato al mantra Bowiano della mia generazione. Jurji Gagarin e Valentina Tereškova si librano nei cieli elettronici fra Sputnik e missili Titan. Gli eroi dei realismi totalitari si stagliano contro città ideali retrofuturiste, bloccati nel gesto retorico e ideale, nell’eterna bellezza e giovinezza rivolta in avanti, verso il sole dell’utopia (che purtroppo si è rivelato un grande, tragico, abbaglio), quasi a suggerire ancora, pur nel disinganno e nell’ironia, una tensione ideale di qualche sorta in un’epoca di totale cinismo e mancanza di visione del futuro. Il progetto prevede anche un libro di 120 pagine in progress contenente tutte le immagini da cui sono tratti molti dei frames animati in parallax.
